Saint Aubin Premier Cru

Considered Saint-Aubin’s finest 1er Cru, this vineyard overlooks the Grands Crus of Montrachet and Chevalier-Montrachet. There’s a crystalline purity to the fresh, vibrant fruit, with grip and tension and well integrated creamy oak. On top form.

The Wine
Cooper craftsman Jean-Edouard Dupard set up this superb domaine in 1859, and it was he who, as mayor of Puligny in 1873, made the decision that Montrachet – the region’s most prestigious vineyard – be added to the village name (Puligny). Neighbouring Chassagne soon followed suit. Domaine Jean Chartron has been run by five generations, with current owner Jean-Michel Chartron continuing his family’s great legacy. Praise from the critics pours in. This superb wine is from Saint-Aubin’s finest Premier Cru, perfectly situated just above the great Grand Cru Chevalier-Montrachet. From 30-year-old vines, the juice is fermented and the wine aged for 10 months in French oak barrels to lend subtle spice to this creamy, floral-scented, very fine white.
