One of Saint-Estèphe’s oldest properties, Château Tronquoy-Lalande (now known as Tronquoy) is today owned by the Bouygues family, who also own next-door £100-a-bottle Château Montrose.
Renowned in insider circles for being a great-value alternative to its famous neighbour, Tronquoy is made in a very similar style. In fact, tasted blind at a ‘10- years-on’ event, this vintage was rated higher than Montrose by Master of Wine Jancis Robinson.
Now at 15 years old, it oozes class with elegant black fruits, leather, black pepper and silky tannins. Perfectly mature – open and decant just before serving.
