Château Tour Saint Christophe 2018
Saint-Emilion Grand Cru AOC
Loading...
This St Emilion Grand Cru really hit the mark in 2018 with 97 points from James Suckling. From a great vintage, this claret, aged in new oak, is "sleek and tight with crunchy berry, mineral and zesty notes on the finish. Complex". Worth tucking away.

The Wine
This superb, 20-hectare Saint Emilion property, not far from the renowned Valandraud estate, was purchased by Peter Kwok in 2012. An addition to his extensive portfolio on Bordeaux's Right Bank. He has since made the château fully organic and biodynamic – a clear indication of the team's meticulous approach every step of the process. What's more, they have the renowned Michel Rolland as consultant. Using largely, densely planted Merlot, supplemented by Cabernet Franc, and aged 60% in new oak for 18 months, this is a powerful claret. It is dense and muscular, but with lovely freshness and structure for ageing. For drinking now, decant early and serve with pink roast lamb. Alternatively cellar for a decade or so. A fine dinner red.
