The Wine
Pessac-Léognan is home to the world-famous First Growth Château Haut-Brion, but also many other top estates. The region's deep gravel soil helps to produce particularly concentrated wines. Most are top-class reds, with a handful of superlative whites, and few outshine this Grand Cru. The estate dates back to the 17th century, but it wasn't until 1990, when it was purchased by Daniel and Florence Cathiard, that the property began to reach its true potential. This intense, layered, racy and elegant 2021 has rich citrus and nectarine fruit with notes of smoky vanilla from fermentation in 55% new oak. "Balancing texture and tension to compelling effect, this beautifully integrated, characterful white is going to be thrilling” (Wine Advocate).

Very long and persistent. One of the best whites ever to come from here
