The Wine
Eric Leglise took over the family estate in 1993, determined to promote maximum biodiversity and so bring health-giving benefits to the vines. In those 31 years, the vines have never been weeded, tillage is superficial and the vineyards are covered with wild flowers that provide pollen and nectar for 200 bees and other pollinators to enjoy. It’s a beauty to behold. Most importantly its soils, brimming with microbial life, help produce super-healthy vines and high-quality grapes. From this fine start, the mainly (75%) Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, supported by Merlot and Cabernet Franc are handpicked and traditionally fermented, with ageing in barrel. Open early and decant to let the flavours open out. A fine claret with roast meats.
