Château Laroque 2022
Saint-Emilion Grand Cru Classé AOC
Loading...
With 93-94 points from James Suckling, Château Laroque is clear evidence that 2022 is a very promising vintage. Aged in new oak barrels for a year, Laroque has deeply seductive, crunchy black fruit depth, with great length, raciness and structure.

The Wine
With 61 hectares of vineyard in total (only 27 used for the Grand Vin), Château Laroque is one of Saint-Émilion's larger estates. This takes nothing away from the quality however. That's clear from 94-95 points from James Suckling, who described it as, "A very classic Bordeaux with medium to full body, firm tannins and crunchy character, with a linear nature." Owned by the Beaumartin family, it was awarded Grand Cru Classé status in 1996. Merlot is, unsurprisingly, its speciality grape, with a little Cabernet Franc, and their Grand Vin receiving a year in oak. Half of that is new, which means the layers of firm tannins and vanilla oak spice are substantial, and just right for long ageing. Keep for a couple of years at least, ideally longer.
