Flavour Profile
Château La Fon du Berger Haut-Médoc Cru Bourgeois is a classic Médoc blend from a family-owned estate in Saint-Sauveur, just five minutes from Pauillac.
After a career in the police force, Paul Bourgés decided to settle in the heart of the Médoc, in the village of Saint-Sauveur where his wife Jeanine was born. They had a few plots of vines that were used by a nearby cooperative cellar. In the 1983 Paul’s son, Gérard, took over the small family estate with his wife, Marie-Christine, and expanded the vineyards, releasing their first vintage in 1988.
The estate has continued to grow over the years and today, Château La Fon du Berger produces wine in both the Haut-Médoc and Pauillac appellations with the help of their eldest son, Vincent. Environmental responsibility is central to the estate’s philosophy and they are committed to using sustainable practices that reduce the impact on both the environment and local biodiversity.
This wine is a classic Médoc blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, with a splash of Petit Verdot, aged in French oak barrels for 12 months before bottling. The result is an elegantly structured Haut-Médoc Cru Bourgeois with plenty of ripe, juicy fruit, herbal freshness and fine tannins, with subtle hints of oak spice. Enjoy on its own, or paired with roast pork, charcuterie or aged cheeses.
