Flavour Profile
This full-bodied, rich red wine from Château Fayau is a classic expression of Bordeaux’s lesser-known Cadillac Côtes de Bordeaux appellation.
The Cadillac Côtes de Bordeaux region runs along the right bank of the Garonne River, from the town of Bassens to Saint-Maixant. Many of its vineyards are planted on the hillsides, overlooking the historic town of Cadillac.
Château Fayau was acquired by the Médeville family in 1826 and today it is run by Jean and Marc Médeville, the seventh generation of the family to look after the historic estate.
This Merlot-led red wine combines layers of dark cherry, plum and blackcurrant fruit with warm, oaky spice and smooth, mellow tannins. Delicious by itself, it pairs beautifully with gratin dauphinois, creamy turkey dishes or mushroom risotto.
