The Story Behind the Bottle
Founded in 1849 Pol Roger is regarded as one of the finest Champagne houses. It is known for the great style and finesse of its wines, particularly for its Cuvée Winston Churchill. Churchill was a great ambassador for the brand, being one of its most loyal customers, even naming a winning racehorse after Odette Pol-Roger, the wife of Jacques Pol-Roger, head of the firm at that time! This top vintage Blanc de Blancs is made from all Grand Cru Chardonnay from the Côte des Blancs: Oiry, Chouilly, Cramant, Avize, Oger and Le Mesnil sur Oger. Aged for six years in bottle on its lees and hand riddled before release, no wonder it has so much depth and complexity. Creamy with ripe fruit, toasted hazelnut, superb length and complexity.
