Champagne Esterlin recently shocked the wine world when its Éclat Brut out-tasted a host of icons (including Veuve Clicquot La Grande Dame) to take the Platinum Trophy at the Decanter World Wine Awards.
Their secret is a hugely impressive stock of mature wines which provides a backbone for their blended Champagnes.And it also gives rise to this incredible vintage Esterlin Blanc de Blancs Extra Brut. It’s made from a very special parcel of Chardonnay held back from the 2014 vintage – an outstanding year for this great Champagne grape.
This is a pure Chardonnay made from the grapes of an exceptional site just south of Épernay. And a truly stunning Blanc de Blancs Champagne that’s an Extra Brut (dry) style with superb freshness, minerality and purity.
And such great value because Esterlin isn’t quite a household name. But sharp-eyed visitors to Épernay may have spotted their smart property on the Avenue de Champagne, opposite famous Pol Roger. Keeping those pricey Grandes Marques on their toes!
