The Wine
From a family of glassmakers, Charles Gabriel de Cazenove founded his now-renowned Champagne house in 1811. That was in Avize, in the heart of the treasured Côte des Blancs. Over the centuries, its Champagne has been served both to royalty and heads of state. Indeed, Edward VII enjoyed it so much, he had bottles imported back to the palace. This fine Brut is a classic blend of Champagne's trio of grapes – largely Pinot Noir for its berry fruit, structure and richness, fruity Meunier and citrusy, mineral and elegant Chardonnay. The wine is long aged on its lees in bottle, in the cool, dark cellars, to develop those toasty, nutty flavours that complement the bright fruit. A great celebration drink or a glass of indulgence when you need one.
