Baronesa de Vilar Rosé Port (50cl) NV
Port
Rosé port was only introduced in Douro in 2008 – a delicious, fragrant style. This is one from 15th generation Alvaro van Zeller, whose family has been crafting magnificent ports since 1715. Chill it down, add ice, it makes a terrific apéritif.
We're sorry, this wine is sold out.
But don't worry, you'll find plenty more handpicked wines here.
The Wine
Winemaker for the Baronesa is Alvaro Van Zeller, a member of one of the most famous families in the Douro. It can boast 15 unbroken generations devoted to the port industry. Van Zeller once owned the iconic Quinta do Noval, whose ports could fetch the most eye-watering price at auction. Indeed, the 1931 Quinta do Noval Nacional (made in tiny quantities from the fruit of ungrafted vines) was rated as one of the two best wines in the world in the 20th century by Wine Spectator. The family heritage had to be sold in 1993 and, three years later, the three cousins Cristiano, Fernando and Alvaro Van Zeller started Barão de Vilar, the newest port house of all. Chill down, pour over ice or add tonic. The most exciting apéritif this year!
"Delicious, fresh pink port. Like raspberry and vanilla ice cream with freshness. Serve over ice"
Kirsten Willis
A very fragrant, pretty style of port, full of summer berries. Chilled in summer, a real delight
