The Story Behind the Bottle
Antonio Federici is a small, 3rd-generation cellar in Lazio, just south of Rome, making wines that are both authentic and delicious. Normally, they only supply their meagre output to top restaurants in Rome, but our buyer gained an introduction during that infamous period in 2020, when all restaurants were shut. First he was allocated a few cases of their superb red, then the next year, of their white too. On fine limestone soils (the rocks of which were used to build some of Rome's most famous buildings) they grow some of Italy's most characterful native grapes and, with the help of top Italian wine consultant Matteo Bernabei, produce a small range of award-winning wines. A pure expression of Malvasia Puntinata – perfect with fish or solo.
