Amaru Malbec 2018
Salta

Customers can't get enough of Argentina's luscious, velvety Malbec. Most comes from Mendoza, but here's a supple fruit gem from high up Salta, to the north. Lots of baked plum and damson with subtle hints of vanilla and milk chocolate. Easy pleaser.
We're sorry, this wine is sold out.
But don't worry, you'll find plenty more handpicked wines here.

The Wine
Argentina adopted France's Malbec grape and took it on with a passion in the 1990s. Now, its wines are so well loved, our Buyer Beth finds it hard to keep up with demand. Here's a terrific new release from the vineyards of Salta. It lies in the northwest of the country and can boast some of its highest vineyards. That would account for the bite of freshness in this red, along with its juicy, well ripened plum and damson fruit. Grapes for this moreish red come from the Calchaqui Valley, which lies at a lofty 1800 metres – some of the highest in the world. Hot days and cold nights bring out the intense fruit and aroma in the wine. Ageing for nine months in a mix of French and US oak barrels rounds off this tasty red. Ideal with grilled meats.
