The Story Behind the Bottle
English fizz has been soaring in quality over the last decade and today produces some of the finest in the world. We are delighted to be able to bring you this unique bubbly from the heart of Windsor Great Park. There was, in fact, a vineyard in the Park in the 1100s, under King Henry II. Nine centuries later, in 2010, Tony Laithwaite discovered a 3-hectare, south-facing plot there, sloping down to Great Meadow Pond, with all the attributes for a top-class vineyard – gentle breezes, a moderate climate, well drained soils. We gained permission to plant Champagne’s classic varieties and harvested our first grapes in 2013. The wine has received much praise worldwide. From a dream vintage, this fine 2016 has ripe fruit with rich toasty length.
