The Story Behind the Bottle
Since 2003, when RedHeads was founded, the team has been blazing a trail. First in the McLaren Vale, and now in the Barossa Valley, where they have put down real roots. A vineyard! For most of their wines, however, they work with grower mates, rescuing the finest parcels of grapes from going into anonymous blends. This fabulous, ripe, big on fruit red comes from Joe Rocca's family vineyard in One Tree Hill, Adelaide. It lies on the same ridge as the Magill vineyard of Penfolds fame! Fermented in small, open top wooden fermenters and hand plunged, this rich, velvety red was aged in French and American oak casks for a year, then kept back another 12 months before release. A true belle with spiced lamb or a Morrocan spiced chickpea stew.
