Loubissou Organic Rose 2024
Tucked away in the Languedoc is the forgotten 'cru' of Cabrières. It's where Gérard Bertrand (Drinks Business Master Winemaker of the World) sources fruit for his £165-a-bottle pink. In the village, there's a small cooperative which was named France's 'Winery of the Year 2023', beating all the grand names of Bordeaux and Burgundy even! It has just 10 members, one of whom owned the organic Loubissou vineyard, with its prized ancient schist soil. This grower retired in 2022 and its care was taken up by the young couple, Lucie and Brice Salic, who tend the organic vines next door and are also part of the coop. This meant the plot was saved from being lost forever. A fine, complex, mineral-fresh pink blended from Grenache, Cinsault, Syrah and the aromatic white grape Clairette – delicious. Clear bottles are best kept in the dark.
