Six Golds in two vintages for this modern Portuguese red. It offers bags of character and great value too. Cabra Cega is from the bemedalled Casa Santos Lima estate and, crafted from native and international grapes, silky, fruit filled and long.
"A really nice, smooth, medium bodied red. Not too fruity and not spicy. Very easy drinking"
Online Review For the 2015 vintage
Cabra Cega translates as Blind Goat and there is an interesting story about the name on the back label. But even more interesting is the wine itself. This irresistibly juicy red comes from Lisbon’s renowned Casa Santos Lima and Portugal’s ‘Best Young Winemaker 2016’, Diogo Sepúlveda. Having also worked in Pomerol and in the Barossa with heirloom Shiraz vines, his credentials for making this rich, old vine Portuguese red are second to none. Oz Clarke lists the estate as one of the “best producers” of Castelão and Touriga Franca (in his book Grapes and Wines). These grapes combine here with Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah to spectacular effect. No surprise it won six Golds in two vintages. Enjoy with grilled steaks, shish kebabs or roast lamb.
