Rated 5-Stars by Halliday, winners of the coveted Jimmy Watson Trophy and hundreds of awards besides, Scarpantoni is one of the best. No wonder “a flurry of excitement greets every new red” (Penguin Good Australian Wine Guide). Back in the 1950s Domenico Scarpantoni arrived from Italy, settled in McLaren Vale and began to plant vines. Sons Michael and Filippo were raised on Oxenberry Farm, right at the heart of the McLaren Vale, where the first settlers farmed. Now in charge, they take great care to make wines reflecting their home ‘terroir’ – with a good slug of South Aussie exuberance too! Their Pedler Creek Shiraz features three different Shiraz clones blended to show off the grape’s natural cinnamon, spice flavours. Bring on the steak.
