With many awards and a patchwork of vineyards throughout Burgundy to their name, the Drouhin family have a lot to be proud of. Their winemaking tradition stretches back six generations, to when Jean-Baptiste Laroze purchased a vineyard in 1850. Since then, each successive generation has sought to develop the estate, adding vineyards in a variety of enviable locations. This is their entry-level white Burgundy, made with the same care and attention they use on their Grands Crus. Using hand-picked Chardonnay grapes, they age the wine in oak barrels (10% new) for 8 months, lending elegant notes of vanilla. The excellent 2020 vintage was celebrated by critic Jancis Robinson as a fine balance between moderation and an 'embarrassment of riches'.
