Marlborough

Our Antipodean wine sleuth Dan Parrott devotes every working hour to seeking out wines with impeccable provenance at a great price. Kora comes via the Rose family’s Wairau River estate, set up in 1978. This is crisp, grassy Sauvignon, loud volume!

Phil and Chris Rose were pioneers in Marlborough’s Wairau River region back in 1978 and have clocked up many top awards. Most recently they gained a Platinum and Gold from Decanter in 2017. Their sons Sam and Hamish are very much part of the team, and Kora, meaning ‘distant place’, is their own delicious creation from the family estate. It’s crisp and aromatic with tropical fruit complexity. The Roses are largely self sufficient, raising livestock, fishing, growing vegetables and making their own olive oil. When the three generations (all 23 of them!) sit down to eat, they often enjoy a glass of Kora with seafood they’ve caught themselves in the Marlborough Sound. Share the good life, too, with your own feast and chilled bottle of Kora.

"Lovely fruity wine. Very fruity with a dry finish. A classic New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc" Online Review
