Koffieklip Kop 2019

Swartland WO

Juicy, rich black fruit red from a winemaker whose wines were described by Parker as "one of the greatest buys I have tasted this year"! It's a punchy blend of two top red grapes in port, but here made into a full flavoured, spicy berry and plum red.

Tim Aktin MW described South Africa as "the most exciting wine country in the world". No doubt that's because of wines like this. It's from Alecia Boshoff, who heads the team at a cellar dubbed "the source of some of South Africa’s greatest wines”. She grew up in rugged Swartland, amongst the ancient vines of her grandfather's property, dreaming one day that she'd take over the estate and make the wine herself. Sadly, the property had to be sold, but Alecia is living the dream at another terrific cellar in Swartland, a region described recently as "the darling of the Cape" (Decanter). Made from two key vintage port grapes from very low yielding, old vines, it's a weighty red with lots of big flavour. A top choice with hearty meat dishes.

"Terrific rich, ripe fruit and freshness in this top value red from Alecia Boshoff" Kirsten Willis
