The Story Behind the Bottle
Founded in 1830, Joseph Drouhin has been a byword for top-quality Burgundy for over a century. Neal Martin at Wine Advocate wrote “Drouhin continues to demonstrate what a class act they have become.” Run today by the founder’s four grandchildren, they have a magnificent portfolio of vineyards that extend from Chablis in the north to the Mâconnais. They are firm believers in organic and biodynamic viticulture, part of a philosophy of meticulous attention to detail throughout their range. This fine Chassagne is from Premier Cru Morgeot, named after its abbey ruins mid-slope. Very gently pressed, the juice is fermented and aged in fine (20% new) French oak barrels. Tuck away or open early and serve in large-bowled glasses with creamy chicken.
