The Wine
Château Clinet may be a modest estate against the grand Pomerol backdrop, but its reputation puts it alongside the giants of Pétrus and Lafleur. It lies on one of the highest points of the renowned Pomerol plateau. In the 1980s, Jean-Michel Arcaute began running the estate and brought onboard oenologist Michel Rolland. Together they revitalized the estate, introducing hand harvesting, later harvesting for ideal ripeness and increasing the use of new oak. Today, its success continues under the watchful eye of Ronan Laborde. The 2022 is a blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, aged in oak barrels (80% new). It was the earliest harvest in the estate’s history, giving a refined Pomerol with terrific energy that will age beautifully.
