Tenuta Fenice Vermentino 2020
Terre Siciliane IGT
Vermentino shines brightly in the pricy whites from Sardinia, but now you can enjoy the same quality from the high slopes of Sicily. It's from an ancient vineyard, brought back to life by Dino Taschetta. Crisp lemon-and-lime with hints of peach.
We're sorry, this wine is sold out.

The Wine
Enjoy this terrific, vibrant, citrusy white and save the vines! Poggioreale used to be an important wine village in Sicily. It was where Dino Taschetta grew up, like generations of his family before him. After an earthquake reduced Poggioreale to ruins in 1968, a new town was built further down the hill and the vineyards above the village, more difficult to get to, were neglected for decades. Dino has been keen to put that wrong to right and has been restoring his grandfather's plot. The reward has been a harvest of jewel-like Vermentino grapes with intense fruit character. Pale with ripe apple, pear and floral aromas, it has both roundness and freshness. Ideal as a conversation white, or with seafood or grilled goat's cheese salad.
"The old vineyard restored and the great grapes rescued. A terrific, well-priced, crisp Vermentino"
Leo Bassano
