This prestige Champagne, presented in a gift box, should be reserved for a special occasion. It’s from one of the best known Champagne houses in the world, Moët et Chandon, established in 1743. This 2012 is showing a little maturity, complexity and length and will cellar well for a many years yet. Another vintage when Pinot Noir showed lovely fruit and Chardonnay produced wines with body. Low yields accounted for even more intensity. Hugh Johnson writes that Moët’s vintage wines are “always a good representative of the character of each vintage, yet with that supple, creamy style that runs through the whole Moët range”. Aged long in the cellar on its lees and at least six months after disgorgement, this Champagne will continue to mature.
