Split Rock Riesling 2017

Nelson

This off-dry aromatic Riesling comes from the oldest boutique family winery on New Zealand’s South Island, one that beat even Cloudy Bay to world class quality. The Aussies make ultra appetising, lime fresh Rieslings. Now taste it the Kiwi way.

Named after the distinctive Split Apple Rock in Abel Tasman National Park, this wine is from the Seifried estate, founded by Austrian Hermann Seifried in 1973. All the fruit for Split Rock comes from the family's own vineyards (one planted in the 1970s, the other in the late 1990s) in Nelson, a region well protected from the vagaries of the weather by mountains to the east, west and south and blessed with hours of sunshine. It’s pure Riesling, a grape that is once more winning over consumers, largely thanks to the deliciously appetising wines from New Zealand and Australia. The wine is slightly off dry yet with more than enough bracing freshness to make it perfectly balanced. Chill down and enjoy with spicy Asian cuisine and fresh seafood.

"Proof that New Zealand does much more than just Sauvignon – a terrific, crisp, lime-zipped Riesling" Dan Parrott
