Jean-Baptiste and Amelie are two passionate young winemakers, devoted to their tiny family estate, Château Guillem de Montjustin. Their finest vineyards are over a century old, planted by Jean-Baptiste’s great grandfather. No wonder then, their grapes are too good to send to the local co-op, so they started making the wine themselves. But it's difficult to make it viable when production is so small, and it's all made by hand, in a tiny, shed-like winery. This couple's vineyard is literally a road apart from 'Grand Cru' of Corbières, Boutenac. There the famous Gérard Betrand's wines fetch £40-£60 a bottle. Same soils, same grapes, all beautifully crafted, but Amelie and Jean-Baptiste’s wine comes at a fraction of the price. It's a rich, expressive red, with concentrated blackberry, cherry and boysenberry flavours woven through with herbal and sweet spice notes. Full bodied, firmly textured, with velvet tannins and a long finish.
