Loubissou is a small vineyard in the hidden-away appellation of Cabrières. Its five valleys are a tumult of geological upheaval and its schistous soils ideal for rosé of great finesse. Its owner, an elderly farmer, was one of just 10 growers who belonged to the local cooperative cellar, that in 2023 won France’s top Winery of the Year. Remarkable. The first time a cooperative has even won the award. 

However, in 2023 the farmer wished to retire and sell the plot, but the cellar couldn’t afford to buy it. So, concerned it would be lost forever, we decided, with customers’ support, to buy the plot and lease it back … to a young couple, whose meticulous, organic vineyard lies next door. Now we are helping to support Lucie and Brice in its upkeep and help the Cabrières cellar in a small way to update its kit. 

This is a very special pink, a blend of grapes Grenache, Cinsault and Syrah, plus native white varieties, mostly importantly Clairette. This is the only appellation in all France permitted to use Clairette in its rosé – grown on its ancient schistous soils, it lends such perfume, freshness and finesse. The skins of the red grapes are left in the juice for the briefest of times to lend pretty berry flavours, but only the merest hint of delicate colour. A pure pale pink, hand-picked and cool fermented by the award-winning team. A rosé to savour.
