  • Halloween Wine Cocktail Recipes

As  the witching hour approaches, there’s no better way to ward off the spirits than with a devilish drink in hand.

Take your Halloween celebrations to the next level with our eerie concoctions... with wine recommendations to give your cocktails an extra kick!

Blood-red Sangria

With deep colours and delicious flavours, this rich and fruity cocktail captures the essence of Halloween perfectly.

What you’ll need:

  • 1 bottle of red wine*
  • 240ml orange juice
  • 60ml triple sec
  • 2 chopped oranges
  • 1 chopped lemon
  • 1 juiced lemon
  • 200g red cherries / strawberries
  • 2 tbsp honey (if you don’t have honey, use 3 tbsp caster sugar)
  • Ice

*Wine recommendation:

Try a fruity Spanish Garnacha! Its bright red fruit flavours make it a perfect, food-friendly base for Sangria.

How to make it:

  1. Add the chopped oranges and lemon, and juiced lemon, into a large fruit bowl.
  2. Add your honey (or caster sugar).
  3. Add ice to a large pitcher and then pour in the red wine, orange juice, triple sec and juiced lemon.
  4. Stir well.
  5. Add your cherries or strawberries.
  6. Refrigerate for at least one hour (overnight would be best).
  7. Serve in your glass of choice – wine glasses, tumblers or goblets.
  8. Garnish with additional berries if desired.

"Vampire’s Kiss" Sparkling Cocktail

If you’re a fan of bubbly drinks, then the Vampire’s Kiss is a must try. Combining sparkling wine with vodka and liqueur, it’s simply to die for.

What you’ll need:

  • 120ml of sparkling wine*
  • 25ml vodka
  • 25ml raspberry liqueur
  • Fresh raspberries
  • Ice

*Wine recommendation: Look out for english sparkling rosés that can bring extra Berry notes to the mix.

How to make it:

  1. Add ice to a glass of your choice.
  2. Pour the vodka and raspberry liqueur into your glass.
  3. Top it off with your choice of sparkling wine.
  4. Stir gently.

Pro tip: Garnish with a fresh raspberry on a cocktail stick and rim the glass with sugar. Use red or black food colouring depending on your preference.

Ghostly White Wine Spritz

Looking for something a little lighter? The Ghostly White Wine Spritz is a great choice – it’s easy to make, doesn’t require a lot of ingredients and is beautifully refreshing.

What you’ll need:

  • 90ml of dry white wine*
  • 25ml of elderflower liqueur
  • 60ml sparkling water or tonic water
  • Ice

*Wine recommendation:

We’d suggest Sauvignon Blanc. You could try The Gooseberry Bush (our No.1 bestselling white) or Sunday Bay (our all-time top selling Kiwi Sauvignon)

How to make it:

  1. Fill your glass with ice.
  2. Pour your Sauvignon Blanc into the glass.
  3. Top it off with sparkling water or tonic water.
  4. Stir gently.

Blood Orange Bubbling Cocktail

This seasonal twist on the classic mimosa features zesty blood orange juice and triple sec, resulting in a vibrant tipple that’s perfect to serve at parties.

What you’ll need:

*Wine recommendation:

Turn this into a non-alcoholic cocktail with an alcohol-free sparkling wine. We’d recommend ¡H! Barcelona Hola Alcohol Free Sparkling.

How to make it:

  1. Pour the blood orange juice and triple sec into a flute.
  2. Top it off with your choice of sparkling wine.
  3. Gently stir.
  4. Garnish with an orange wheel.

Haunted Mulled Cider

Mulled wine season is just around the corner … but who says you can’t enjoy it a little earlier? Rich, warming and delicious – one to sip in the dark with a scary movie.

  • 1 bottle of red wine*
  • 475ml apple cider
  • 60ml brandy
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 sliced apple
  • 1 sliced orange

*Wine recommendation:

Try warming red wines with notes like rich fruit, spice, and oak - such as Australian Shiraz or Rioja.

How to make it:

  1. Pour the red wine, apple cider, brandy and honey into a large pot and then add the cinnamon stick.
  2. Add your sliced apple and orange.
  3. Heat on low, stirring occasionally.
