Vilarissa Grande Reserva 2024
Vilarissa Grande Reserva is an old-vine, barrel-matured red from the Van Zeller family, makers of top-quality Port for four centuries.
In fact, the Van Zellers are the oldest Port wine family and owned the legendary Quinta do Noval – home to the most famous of all Vintage Ports – for generations.
Today, they’re equally renowned for their exceptional Douro reds, crafted from the same native grapes used in Port and packed with the same rich, velvety intensity.
This Grande Reserva sits at the top of their range. It’s made from the Douro’s prized Touriga Nacional and Touriga Franca grapes, grown on vines between 40 and 70 years old. These gnarled old vines produce precious few grapes, but the fruit they give is incredibly concentrated.
The result? A red that combines opulence and elegance – packed with ripe plums, black cherries, mocha and spice.
2024 was a universally acclaimed vintage in the Douro – already being talked about as the best this century. So while this is delicious already, it will age well too. Great with a rich, herby casserole.
