The Story Behind the Bottle
Super Tuscans are among the world’s most sought-after wines, and Petrolo makes some of the finest. Dubbed the "Pétrus of Tuscany," the estate’s 100-point Galatrona sells for £100 a bottle and was named the world’s second-best wine by critic James Suckling. Today, their wine Torrione has become an icon in its own right. A masterful blend of Sangiovese, Merlot, and Cabernet, it’s crafted from some of Petrolo’s oldest vineyards. The estate calls it “the true identity of Petrolo. James Suckling awarded it 95 points:“complex and structured, but ethereal and weightless at the same time … generosity meets delicacy.” Lush black cherry and plum flavours intertwine with dark chocolate, wild herbs, and spice, a wine of both power and finesse.
