Terra di Nonno Vermentino 2023
Terre Siciliane IGT
Loading...
Vermentino is the classy (and pricey) white grape of Sardinia and Provence. It works a treat in Sicily too, exhibiting here lots of pear, apple and citrus, with a lift of floral notes too. From an award-winning cellar, this white is summery fresh.

The Wine
In 1958 in Sicily's town of Menfi, 68 winemakers signed a pact to preserve the island's vineyards and thereby a way of life. 60+ years later, this cooperative has been named 'Winery of the Year' twice – in 2018 by Vini d’Italia and 2017 by Germany’s Weinwirtschaft. It has also gained top marks in the renowned Gambero Rosso wine guide. With these credentials, its members were keen to export and came to us first. This is their Vermentino – a top white grape of Sardinia that also excels in Sicilian sunshine. The wine is named after the winemaker Andrea Palermo's grandfather, one of the 68 to sign the original pact and means 'land of my grandfather'. With pear, apple and zesty citrus, this is an appetising white. Top solo; great with seafood.

A very fruity white wine - initially apples, followed by a lovely citrus finish. Delicious anytime
