The Story Behind the Bottle
"Arguably New Zealand’s greatest red wine,” says Huon Hooke of Decanter – and we’d be hard-pressed to disagree. Te Mata Coleraine is the flagship blend from New Zealand’s oldest estate, founded in 1895 and still proudly family-run. Based in Hawke’s Bay, where the warm, dry climate coaxes the best from Bordeaux grapes, Coleraine blends Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc with precision. Expect deep layers of blackberry, cassis and plum, framed by fine tannins, cedar spice, dark chocolate and a mineral freshness. Elegant, powerful and built to age, this is a red to savour slowly with roast lamb, aged cheddar or great conversation. A true Kiwi classic.
