The Story Behind the Bottle
Ridge Vineyards is one of the most famous wineries in California. The estate’s modern history began in 1962 with the first vintage of its Cabernet-based Monte Bello – a wine that, according to JancisRobinson.com, “helped show that California wine could compete with the most respected wines in the world.” In 1972, Ridge released its Zinfandel-based red, Lytton Springs, from a vineyard planted 70 years earlier. Tim Fish of Wine Spectator awarded the 2023 vintage 95 points, praising its “distinctive personality” and “bold blackberry flavours accented with savoury anise, black pepper and dark Asian spices.” The cellar recommends serving this superb red with rack of lamb or beef bourguignon.
