Pillastro Anniversario Primitivo Puglia 2025

If you’re looking for a lusciously rich red wine with warmth and depth, Pillastro Anniversario is hard to beat. A special edition of our No.1 bestselling Italian red wine, it’s packed with deep, dark fruit and spice and incredibly silky smoothness.
The wine comes from the Salento region in Puglia, the sun-drenched heel of Italy’s boot, where the prized local variety Primitivo thrives. It’s from Cantine Due Palme, a winery founded by local hero Angelo Maci. He started over 30 years ago by championing small, independent growers. Back then, he worked with just 15 – today, there are over 1,000.
But it wasn’t just the growers Angelo helped save. He also preserved the ancient traditions and almost extinct grape varieties that make southern Italian wines so characterful and flavourful.
Keeping the much-loved character of Pillastro, this special release still uses the darkly spiced Primitivo grape that you know and love. But for extra oomph they added two special parcels of grapes to the blend. The first is a cuvée that enjoyed a full six months ageing in barrel for an extra spicy kick, while the second uses grapes given extra 'hang time' on the vines to ensure even more concentration and richness.
Your favourite velvety, spiced-berry Italian red, taken up a notch in intensity, fruit flavour and complexity. The ideal red to go with a hearty casserole.
