The Wine
A top region, its best red grape and an irresistible wine. It’s from Moe Momtazi, who with his wife Flora fled Iran during the revolution and settled in the US. Moe found work as a civil engineer but winemaking is in his blood – his grandfather grew grapes and his father made wine in the family’s basement. After a decade in the New World Moe finally achieved his dream of owning a winery and planting vines. The first vintage was 2001 and the results have been phenomenal. Today the Momtazi family estate is among the most renowned properties in Oregon’s Willamette Valley. The grapes for this red were hand-harvested from the biodynamic Maysara Vineyard and the wine was aged in French oak. Best served in large-bowled glasses to show at its best.

Ripe Volnay-style fruit, nice touch of oak, elegant and quite fleshy. Very attractive
