Nicolas Potel is described in the book The New France as one of the “new-wave micro-négociants producing finely crafted wines that rival those of the best growers”. From a year with wines "of a profound intensity" this is a graceful, pretty Pommard.

The Story Behind the Bottle
Les Vignots is one of the most sought-after sites for village Pommard. It lies at the top, at 330 metres, which results in a minerality and finesse in the wine. Especially in the hands of leading grower-négociant Nicolas Potel. Nicolas learned from an early age from his renowned father Gérard, studied, then gained experience in Australia and California. His father's early death meant the family estate had to be sold and Nicolas had to build up from nothing. At his new enterprise Nicolas sources top-quality, old-vine grapes, so his wines are intense and expressive. “In the class of the very best that Burgundy can produce,” wrote Jasper Morris MW. With fragrant red fruit and fine tannins, this an ageworthy Pommard. Decant early or cellar.
