The Wine
Le Clos de Grand-Père comes from one of the Brets’ oldest vineyards, originally acquired by their grandfather, with vines between 40-115 years old. It’s a tiny, walled one-hectare plot on deep limestone soils in the village of Vinzelles and right next to the Pouilly-Vinzelles hillside. As is the case for all the Brets’ wines, everything is handpicked and the vines have been farmed biodynamically since the brothers took over in 2000. There’s lovely depth of soft, creamy peach and apricot fruit with gentle floral hints and a refreshing, mineral-edged finish. An exceptional Burgundy buy.
