Tucked away in Italy’s wonderful Marche countryside lies a top cellar we can’t name, with vineyards in prized Serra de’ Conti, a region renowned for its fine Verdicchio. Protected by the mountains on one side and cooled by sea breezes on the other, these vines produce grapes with vividly aromatic flavour.
The winemaking here is overseen by Stefano Chioccioli, a star of Italian winemaking, famous for achieving a perfect 100-point score from Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate.
Not only is this Edizione Limitata a Riserva – the highest classification of Verdicchio – but it has also benefited from five years' ageing. Verdicchio Riservas are amazingly ageworthy yet rarely do you find wines where the ageing has been done for you.
Rounded and silky with orchard fruits, hints of wild herbs, almonds and toasted spice, this is a complex, savoury white that excels with rich seafood or a truffle risotto.
