p> It’s made by the Barbanera winery, founded in 1938 and still family run today. A recent overhaul of the cellar has further elevated the high quality of the wines. The name of this Chianti pays homage to a family ancestor, Orazio Barbanera, who defeated the Florentines in a skirmish in a field of artichokes, earning him the title ‘Duca di Cardino’ (Duke of Artichokes).This stylish tribute to the Duke, made by head winemaker Sofia Barbanera, is pure Sangiovese – ripe sour cherry character with sweet spices. Elegant, fruity and soft, serve with antipasti, chicken or pesto pasta.
