The Wine
There’s great acclaim for the fine wines of Domaine de Mourchon. Jancis Robinson MW puts their wines “amongst the most interesting 5% of wine made today”, while Wine Advocate wrote "these splendid cuvées are all worth buying by the caseload.” The property lies in Vaucluse, southern Rhône, in the shadow of the Dentelles de Montmirail and Mont Ventoux. Perched on a limestone outcrop, Séguret is counted among France’s most beautiful villages. It lies close to Gigondas too, which gives a clue to its rich, warm style. Winemaker Sébastien Magnouac uses 60-year-old vine Grenache and Syrah which yield at a minute 20 hectolitres per hectare, so you get delicious power and richness, tempered by part-ageing in barrel. A velvety red, ideal with lamb.
