The Wine
Col les Pins is a reminder of just how well the finest wines of the superior Côtes du Roussillon Villages appellation can age. It's a delicious lesson in mature fruit blending with toasted spice, herbs, tobacco and cedar. It was made by the local prize-winning cellar, Domaine Brial, that was named Best Cooperative four years running, 2019-2022. Winemaker Agnes Arquier took all the grapes from 30 year old vines, planted on very pebbly, higher altitude terraces, so the fruit has really good intensity. It's a classic blend of mostly Grenache and Syrah, with just 10% of Mourvèdre and Carignan, all handpicked and fermented in tank, with no oak. A Gold medal winner too. Nuances of plum, black cherry, pepper and spice. Savour with grilled meats.
