You might have heard of the Thienponts – they make some of Bordeaux’s most famous wines, like Pomerol icon Le Pin. We’ve been friends with the family for years and went round for a quick catch-up around the kitchen table to choose some aged reds for Christmas, when this white stopped us in our tracks.
A blend of Sauvignons Blanc and Gris, it’s brimming with nectarines, lemon zest and tropical pineapple with electrifying freshness – you’d never guess that it had spent seven years in the cellar. That ageing has given it incredible intensity that makes the fruit sing from the glass.
