The Wine
Bordeaux 2022 was yet another exceptional vintage, and "all observers agreed that Merlot shone" (jancisrobinson.com). Excellent news for Château Marsau whose 12ha vineyard is entirely Merlot. Château Marsau lies in Francs Côtes de Bordeaux, a region that offers superb quality at a fraction of the price of Pomerol and St-Émilion. The 2022 release was praised by the critics with Wine Advocate calling it “a red wine that punches above its weight” and James Suckling saying, “most impressive wine I have had from here”. Made with organically grown grapes and aged in 80% large oak casks, it shows ripe cherry and cassis with complex layers of roasted coffee, spice, and fine tannins. A wonderful expression of Right Bank Bordeaux’s favoured grape.
