Château Bourgneuf 2014
Pomerol AOC
Loading...
Château Bourgneuf is a luscious Pomerol, all velvet-ripe fruit with delicious depth and complexity. After seven years' ageing, a year of that in new oak, the tannins have had time to soften and it’s in top form. Rich yet elegant, with deep flavour.

The Wine
In 2021 the Vayron family celebrated their 200 year anniversary at this fine Pomerol estate. It is one of the oldest family-owned properties in the region. Indeed, until 2009 their wines went by the name Château Bourgneuf Vayron. The château’s vineyards are very well positioned, neighbouring Châteaux Trotanoy and L’Eglise Clinet, and with vineyards next to La Cabanne. The soils are varied – from pure clay (their best) to a mixture of sand, gravel and clay with iron deposits. Here they grow nearly all Merlot, with a little Cabernet Franc, and the vines are up to 70 years old. Frédérique Vayron is the winemaker, lending a gentle hand to the process. Ample and velvet smooth, this is a delicious claret to enjoy over the next few years.

Pure blackberry, wild strawberry, cold granite, almost flinty aromas. Well structured, very linear
