The Story Behind the Bottle
Somontano lies in the Pyrenean foothills of northeast Spain and offers ideal conditions for vines. The area was established as a DO in 1985 yet Viñas del Vero (founded a year later) is already one of the most awarded bodegas in Spain. Plus, in 2024 their winemaker, José Ferrer, was made a Winemaking Legend by Tim Atkin MW. Named after the river Vero that runs through the region, this sustainability-focused bodega has 700 hectares of native grapes as well as international stars like Chardonnay and Cabernet. This great red features Parraleta, a variety that was nearly lost forever. Delicious freshness with lipsmacking cherry fruit and a delectable lift of herbal fragrance, this a great red for grilled meats, paella-style dishes or moussaka.
