Antakari Carménère Reserva 2025

Wine Details
Flavour Profile
If you like the plummy smoothness of Merlot, you’re going to adore Carménère, Chile’s great gift to the wine world. It’s just as smooth and fruity, but with a hints of spiced cherry and wild herbs – as you’ll taste with Antakari, an absolute classic of the style.
It comes from the Elqui Valley, right next to the Atacama Desert and one of the world’s most incredible vineyard regions. A down draught from the Andes and the Pacific’s Humboldt Current both help to moderate temperatures by day and ensure very cold nights. It’s watered by Andes snowmelt and bathed in the brightest sunlight imaginable.
The wine is made at Viña Falernia, one of only two wineries in the valley. It was built in the late 1990s by Italian Giorgio Flessati and won a Trophy with its very first release. The vineyards are incredibly high at over 2,000m, making for Carménère of impressive purity and power. Smooth and easy enough to enjoy on its own but even better when served alongside roast lamb, tagines or winter casseroles.
