Ferraton Père et Fils Côte-Rôtie Lieu-Dit Montmain 2016

Cote-Rotie AOC

Star of the northern Rhône, Côte-Rôtie, from a first class estate. It’s also from a very good, albeit challenging, vintage that has produced fabulous wines. Montmain’s schist and granite soils result in floral fruit with mineral finesse.

Founded in 1946, Domaine Ferraton has always been a highly regarded estate. Since the Chapoutiers have joined the team “the quality from this estate continues to soar” (Wine Advocate). The Ferraton family work closely with Michel Chapoutier, oenologist Damien Brisset and the renowned Stéphane Ogier, and this ‘super team’ produce a range of amazing wines. This is one of the finest – a single vineyard Côte-Rôtie from a lieu-dit in the northwestern corner. Schist and granite soils make the vines dig deep and limit yields. The result is wines with wonderful poise and intensity, elegance and power. Decant the wine beforehand to let all its fruit and floral charms open out. Pull out your finest lamb dish for this Rhône beauty.
