Mention Sauvignon Blanc to any wine lover and Marlborough is sure to come up – yet 40 years ago this remote region was known only for barley and sheep. The success story of Marlborough is one of the most remarkable in modern times, and one in which Hunter’s Wines can justly claim to have played a major part. The estate is now run by Jane Hunter. A highly qualified viticulturist, she has a string of accolades for her excellent work, including an OBE and Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to viticulture. This is a classic Kiwi Sauvignon, made by Jane’s nephew James Macdonald, displaying passion fruit, crisp apple and citrus aromas. Delicious on its own and superb with oysters, grilled white fish or spicy Thai dishes.
